- Day 1Arrive and find your feetFly to Schiphol or take the Eurostar from London, then check in. Spend the evening on foot: along the canals in Amsterdam, by the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, or beside the Oudegracht in Utrecht.
- Day 2Museums and landmarksIn Amsterdam, book a morning slot at the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum, then see the city from a canal boat. In Rotterdam, start at the Markthal, cross to the Cube Houses and go up the Euromast. In Utrecht, climb the Dom Tower with a guide and walk the wharves along the Oudegracht.
- Day 3History and neighbourhoodsIn Amsterdam, visit the Anne Frank House, then wander the Jordaan and the Nine Streets. In Rotterdam, see Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Fenix migration museum, then walk to old Delfshaven. In Utrecht, book a visit to the Rietveld Schröder House, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Day 4Windmills and a day tripFrom Amsterdam, take the train to Zaanse Schans for its windmills, or to Haarlem. From Rotterdam, the WaterShuttle reaches the windmills at Kinderdijk in under 30 minutes, and Delft is 12 minutes away by train. From Utrecht, Gouda is about 20 minutes by train.
- Day 5A day at your own paceHire a bike, browse a market or take the train to another city. Amsterdam to Utrecht takes about 30 minutes. In spring, add Keukenhof's gardens with a timed ticket. In winter, see the Amsterdam Light Festival after dark.
- Day 6Last morning and homeCheck out and travel home. The train from Amsterdam Centraal to Schiphol takes about 17 minutes, so allow time for it as well as for check-in.
