Who can apply from the UK

You can apply in the UK if you live here. Your UK status must be valid for one month beyond the day you leave the Schengen area, shown with a share code.

Iceland must be your main destination. If you will stay longer in another Schengen country, Iceland cannot take the application and will reject it.

Register first on Iceland's visa portal, visa.government.is, and show the confirmation email to VFS staff at your appointment.

Iceland visa questions from UK residents

Can I apply for an Iceland visa on a BRP?

BRPs have been replaced by eVisas. Iceland's UK checklist asks for a valid share code, and your status must last one month beyond your departure from the Schengen area.

Where can I apply for an Iceland visa in the UK?

At VFS Global in London, Manchester, Edinburgh or Cardiff. The Cardiff centre opened on 1 April 2026.

How long does an Iceland visa take from the UK?

Normally 15 days once the embassy has your file. VFS warned in June 2026 that high volumes mean this cannot be guaranteed, so apply well ahead.

How much money do I need for an Iceland visa?

Iceland's checklist uses ISK 8,000 per day if you stay in a hotel and ISK 4,000 per day if someone else pays, shown on stamped bank statements for the last three months.

How much is an Iceland Schengen visa from the UK?

The visa fee is €90 (£77) for adults and €45 (£39) for children aged 6 to 11. Children under 6 pay nothing. VFS adds a €40 service fee.

Do I need to register online before my Iceland visa appointment?

Yes. Register on visa.government.is and show the confirmation email to VFS staff when you arrive.

Will my passport be stamped when I enter Iceland?

No. Since 10 April 2026 the EU's Entry/Exit System records your entries and exits digitally instead of stamping your passport. As a visa holder, the system stores a photo of your face taken at the border; your fingerprints are already on file from your visa application.

Can I visit other Schengen countries on an Iceland visa?

Yes. A Schengen visa covers all 29 Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 180, as long as Iceland is your main destination.
