Visa appointments in London

Most Schengen consulates take UK applications through a visa centre run by VFS Global, TLScontact or BLS International. Which centre you use depends on the country you are applying to and, for some consulates, on where in the UK you live. We book the earliest slot that fits your dates and your consulate's rules.

On the day

Your consultant sends a checklist for your consulate; this is what nearly every centre asks for.
  • Your passport, plus any old passports with Schengen visas in them
  • Your BRP, or your eVisa share code and the Home Office confirmation
  • The appointment confirmation and the signed application form
  • Two recent photos, if the centre doesn't take them on site
  • Your supporting documents in the order of your checklist, originals and copies
  • A card for the centre's service charge and any optional extras

How slots are released, and how we find one

Appointments come out in batches, and the first ones go quickly.
  • We check releases for your consulate every morning, at every UK centre it uses.
  • If an earlier slot opens in another city, we ask before moving you.
  • Your file is ready before the slot is, so you can take a short-notice appointment.
  • Nothing is booked in your name without your go-ahead.

Appointments in London, answered

Can I book an appointment in a different city?

It depends on the consulate. Some let you book any UK centre they use; others assign a centre by where in the UK you live. We tell you which rule applies to yours.

Why are there no appointments available?

Centres release slots in batches, and busy seasons fill quickly. We check releases every day and book the first slot that fits your dates.

Do I have to go in person?

Usually, yes: the centre takes your fingerprints and your file. If your fingerprints were taken for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months, some consulates can reuse them; we check what yours allows.

Are the optional extras worth paying for?

Rarely. Premium lounges, SMS updates and courier return are optional. We tell you which ones make a difference for your application, if any.
