Who can apply from the UK

You apply to the Luxembourg embassy responsible for where you live. For the UK, Luxembourg's foreign ministry sends all short-stay applications to the embassy in London.

Luxembourg does not publish how long your UK status must stay valid. The EU's common document list for UK applicants asks for a UK residence permit valid at least one month after you leave the Schengen area.

Luxembourg must be your main destination, judged by where you will stay longest. If your stays are equal, apply to the Schengen country you will visit first.

If you only visit the UK and live elsewhere, apply in your country of residence.

  • Bank statements UK statements covering at least the last 3 months and showing the balance, as the EU's list for UK applicants asks. Luxembourg asks you to prove enough money for your stay and your return.

Luxembourg visa questions from UK residents

Can I apply for a Luxembourg visa on a BRP?

BRPs have been replaced by eVisas. Luxembourg does not publish its own rule, but the EU's list for UK applicants asks for UK status valid at least one month after you leave the Schengen area.

Where do I apply for a Luxembourg visa in the UK?

At the Embassy of Luxembourg in London, by appointment booked by email. There is no VFS, TLScontact or BLS centre for Luxembourg.

How long does a Luxembourg visa take from the UK?

Luxembourg's foreign ministry says applications are generally processed within 15 calendar days, and up to 45 if more documents are needed.

How much is a Luxembourg Schengen visa from the UK?

The EU visa fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6 to 11. There is no service charge because you apply at the embassy, which does not publish the amount in pounds.

How do I book a Luxembourg visa appointment in London?

Email the embassy at londres.consulat@mae.etat.lu. It sees visa applicants by appointment only, Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 16:00.

Do I have to go to the Luxembourg embassy in person?

Yes for your first Schengen visa, even with a biometric passport, because the embassy takes your fingerprints. It may also interview you.

Will my passport be stamped when I enter Luxembourg?

No. Since 10 April 2026 the EU's Entry/Exit System records your entries and exits digitally instead of stamping your passport. As a visa holder, the system stores a photo of your face taken at the border; your fingerprints are already on file from your visa application.

Can I visit other Schengen countries on a Luxembourg visa?

Yes. A Schengen visa covers all 29 Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 180, as long as Luxembourg is your main destination.
