Oman visa from the UK for non-UK passport holders

If you live in the UK on a non-UK passport, you can visit Oman visa-free for 14 days if you are Turkish, or Indian with UK residence or a valid UK visa. Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nigerian, Ghanaian and Sri Lankan nationals need a Royal Oman Police eVisa, applied for at least four days ahead; check the fee on the portal.

If you live in the UK

Routes that depend on your UK residence permit or visa, by passport.
  • Turkish nationals: Turkey is on Oman's first visa-exemption list. You can visit for up to 14 days without a visa, and no UK residence condition applies.
  • Indian nationals: India is on the second list. You can visit visa-free for up to 14 days only if you live in, or hold a valid visa for, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, a Schengen country or Japan.
  • Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nigerian, Ghanaian and Sri Lankan nationals: you are on neither visa-free list, and UK residence does not change this. Apply for a visa through the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal before you travel.
  • Filipino nationals: Oman's official visa-free lists disagree about the Philippines. Confirm with the Royal Oman Police and your airline before you travel, or apply for an eVisa.
  • Visa-free stays last 14 days and cannot be extended or changed to a residence visa. You need a passport valid for six months, a return ticket, a confirmed hotel booking, health insurance and enough money for your stay. Your spouse and children can use the same facility even if they hold another nationality.
  • Since 3 August 2026 Oman also offers a free 14-day tourist visa on request for nationals of countries the Royal Oman Police designates. The list of countries has not been published.
  • Family visits: a relative in Oman can sponsor a relatives and friends visit visa. An Omani relative applies, or the employer of a relative who lives in Oman, and you can stay up to three months.

Documents for a Oman visa

You provide

  • Passport Valid for at least six months when you enter Oman, with a scanned copy for the eVisa portal (up to 512 KB).
  • UK residence status (Indian nationals) To use the 14-day exemption, carry proof that you live in the UK or hold a valid UK visa. If you hold a UK eVisa, have your share code ready.
  • Photo A personal photo for the eVisa upload, up to 512 KB.
  • Proof of relationship (family visits) For a relatives and friends visit visa: documents proving the relationship and a copy of your relative's passport. Your sponsor also signs an undertaking letter.
  • Proof of funds Visa-free entry requires enough money to cover your living costs during your stay.

Oman visa questions from UK residents

Do Pakistani nationals living in the UK need a visa for Oman?

Yes. Pakistan is not on Oman's visa-free lists, and UK residence does not change that. Apply through the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal at least four days before you travel.

Can Indians with a UK residence permit visit Oman without a visa?

Yes, for up to 14 days. India is on Oman's second visa-free list, which needs UK residence or a valid UK visa. Carry a return ticket, a hotel booking, health insurance and enough money for your stay.

Do Turkish citizens need a visa for Oman?

No, for stays of up to 14 days. Turkey is on Oman's first visa-free list, and the 14 days cannot be extended.

How much is an Oman visa from the UK?

Visa-free entry costs nothing, and since 3 August 2026 Oman also has a free 14-day tourist visa for designated nationalities. eVisa fees depend on your nationality and visa type, and the Royal Oman Police eligibility checker shows them.

How long does an Oman eVisa take?

The Royal Oman Police does not publish a fixed time. It recommends applying at least four days before you travel, and an unsponsored visa must be used within one month of issue.

Can I extend my 14-day visa-free stay in Oman?

No. The 14-day stay cannot be extended or changed to a residence visa. If you hold the new free 14-day tourist visa, you can swap it for another tourist visa before it expires, paying that visa's fee.

Can my family in Oman sponsor my visit?

Yes. An Omani relative, or the employer of a relative who lives in Oman, can apply for a relatives and friends visit visa. It allows up to three months, extendable by one month.

Is there a travel warning for Oman right now?

The UK government's travel advice, updated 22 July 2026, reports strikes and retaliatory attacks by Iran in the region since 8 July, including in Oman, and warns of possible flight cancellations and airspace closures. It does not advise against travel to Oman. Check gov.uk and your airline before you travel.
