Who can apply from the UK

You must live legally in the UK and show it. Denmark asks for your share code, with UK residence valid at least one month after your trip, and proof of when you arrived in the UK, such as your UK visa sticker, an arrival stamp or a Home Office letter.

Only apply for a Danish visa if Denmark is your main destination. Travelling to another Schengen country first on a Danish visa can lead to refused entry, a revoked visa and problems with future applications.

You can use any of the three VFS centres. Transfer to the embassy adds 1 day each way from London and 2 days each way from Manchester or Edinburgh.

If you only hold a UK visitor visa, apply in your country of residence, unless an urgent new reason arose while you were in the UK.

If your UK permission ends soon, the embassy may issue a shorter visa than you would otherwise get.

Worth knowing about this consulate

  • The embassy currently takes up to 20 days for complete applications received after 8 September 2026, with priority for business and EU-rules applications. Transfer time comes on top: 1 day each way from London, 2 from Manchester or Edinburgh.
  • If the embassy receives your application less than 15 calendar days before you travel, it can return it unprocessed and refund the visa fee.
  • If you gave fingerprints for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months, you can apply by post through VFS instead of attending. Call VFS on 020 3409 2335 first (notice of 5 August 2026).
  • VFS charges a €23 service fee including VAT, paid in pounds at the current rate. Outside London a mandatory courier charge of €5 (£4.26) is added.
  • Missing documents must reach VFS within 5 calendar days, and the embassy may call you for a phone interview.
  • The embassy adds a 15-day grace period to your visa's validity, so the dates on the sticker run longer than your stay.

Pakistani passport holders

  • Denmark places Pakistan in its group 5. As a starting point, you only qualify for a visa in extenuating circumstances, such as the death or terminal illness of a family member living in Denmark.
  • Denmark calls its five country groups a rough guide that it uses when it doubts you will leave on time. Every case is assessed individually.

  • Only changing planes at a Danish airport on the way somewhere else? As a Pakistani national you need an airport transit visa unless an exemption applies. Denmark visa questions from UK residents

Can I apply for a Denmark visa on a BRP?

BRPs have been replaced by eVisas. Denmark asks for your share code, with residence valid at least one month after your trip, plus proof of when you arrived in the UK.

Where do I apply for a Denmark visa in the UK?

You apply and pay online at ApplyVisa, then hand in your documents at VFS Global in London, Manchester or Edinburgh.

How long does a Denmark visa take from the UK?

For complete applications received after 8 September 2026, the embassy takes up to 20 days, and up to 45 if the Danish Immigration Service is involved. Add transfer days from VFS.

How much is a Denmark Schengen visa from the UK?

The visa fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6 to 11, paid online at ApplyVisa. Children under 6 pay nothing. VFS adds a €23 service fee, plus €5 courier outside London.

Can I apply for a Denmark visa by post?

Yes, if you gave fingerprints for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months. You confirm this in ApplyVisa, call VFS, then send your passport and documents by courier.

Does my nationality affect a Denmark visa?

It can. Denmark sorts visa nationalities into five groups and uses them when it doubts you will return; Pakistan, for example, is in group 5. See the notes for your nationality.

Will my passport be stamped when I enter Denmark?

No. Since 10 April 2026 the EU's Entry/Exit System records your entries and exits digitally instead of stamping your passport. As a visa holder, the system stores a photo of your face taken at the border; your fingerprints are already on file from your visa application.

Can I visit other Schengen countries on a Denmark visa?

Yes, for up to 90 days in any 180 across all 29 Schengen countries, but only if Denmark is your main destination. Entering another country first on a Danish visa can lead to refused entry.
